All you Need is Love….
In my early days in California, many years ago – this adage seemed to be on the lips of everyone I met. I was always leery of anyone wearing too much purple or crystals and who possessed that faraway look in their eyes that you now see in Cannabis dispensaries daily.
I never wanted anyone to think I was too “woo woo” – so I centered myself in the world of business and on weekends went to undisclosed locations for self-improvement seminars – from the fire walk of Tony Robbins to the locked doors of EST. Neither place talked much about love.
The places that did talk about love were either too weird or too churchy and so I decided that what we all needed was a lot more than love.
As I begin this new Blog series, Love is all I can think about. And the perspective I now carry is that Love is not something to get – not even something to give – or even something to be- but rather something we are. That misunderstanding is the distance between the closest planet and earth. All our searching and striving – all our selectivity on whom to love – and all the evidence (from continued school shootings to racism and abuse) leaves us still longing, still disappointed and still not caring for ourselves.
To notice and allow our true nature to appear – in all its glory – is the subject of this Blog series and the blossoming of a new passion to my work – and perhaps new work itself.
For those of you who don’t know my current work; I have spent the last 8 years teaching about the truth of Poverty and its effects – no people aren’t lazy, entitled or loving being poor. They are suffering from long periods of struggle for survival (sometimes generations) and my classes are all about understanding that and working with it in new ways. In one of my very first programs, at the lunch break, a gentlemen approached me and said “you know you are talking about love”. I am sure I smiled and wondered what exactly he meant.
Now I know – except that misunderstanding cited above is still causing a lot of trouble. If we are love – how can we remove the obstacles to seeing that and allowing our true nature to shine as “ the light of the world”. (I know it has a churchy ring to it).
I have recently competed a training on how to remove those obstacles and many other boulders in our lives, and I will incorporate that along with the passion I have to share that work. I hope you will join me and find that you are the love you have been seeking.
