Trust Life
Little did I know when I received the idea about the elements of a Renaissance – that Trust would land on such a week as this has been -Trust what and Trust whom-when everywhere we look there appears to be things and people who are far from trustworthy. At the same time, if you are watching closely, you can see that something is wanting to emerge, unfold and transform. When the old is dismantled it can look like there is no light at the end of the tunnel – but if you look for the light – you will begin to see the dawn of something new bursting forth.
People, events – situations – these are not the things in which to place your trust. Anything that comes and goes, and with it – endless change and impermanence is not where we place our Trust. Life on the other hand has been evolving towards greater love-intelligence, wisdom and creativity since it burst forth on the scene. Love at the highest level is always something you can trust – love in your heart – love for your friends, family and community – love for the freedom to think and change our minds- this is Love that is present and never absent and this Love is synonymous with Life.
Coincidentally (or not) you are reading this on Dr. Martin Luther King’s birthday. Here was a man of Trust – of Faith – when he had no idea of how things would turn and change, he maintained his hope in the Power that is the way. He couldn’t have know about Barack Obama or George Floyd – but he knew that Life was moving towards justice and understanding and he trusted that when his own life was surely going to be abruptly ended. Earlier this year. I wondered if we were moving backwards – if things actually had not improved much since my wild idealism of youth. On closer examination, I can see that events are troublesome- and the movement towards transcendence is also fully visible.
Choosing to be the Renaissance means you hold Trust with or without the appearance you are hoping for – you hold Faith in the Love that guides and moves us towards new ideas, new connections and relationships and new levels of wisdom and contribution. You actually keep your eye on what is invisible – what can’t be seen but it is surely there. You join nature – like the sweet bird in the photo who appears each spring and sings because that is the nature of this creature – with no thought of what is happening or not happening in his world. You and I have the nature of the Renaissance – the bringing on the new-never mind the so-called obstacles-they will come and go- never mind the challenges – answers will appear- just hold the Love. And send a thank you in consciousness to Dr. King who blazed a trail of Trust and Faith that we all stand on this day.
: “I believe that unarmed truth and unconditional love will have the final word in reality. This is why right, temporarily defeated, is stronger than evil triumphant.”
