Limitless Possibilities……..
Being a Renaissance person calls for the ability to see the invisible or hear the inaudible before it appears on the scene. Years ago I was facilitating the 7 Habits of Highly Effective People- I was trained by Dr. Covey and a large part of that training was on visioning. The ability to “see” before the blueprint which is created before the house is built. It requires that we stop the mind before its litany of “that won’t work” or “we will never get there” begins to set in…and replace that with the highest idea possible for whatever project, innovation or idea might be calling you right now.
We are actually built for evolution and innovation – it frequently occurs before it is needed- seemingly out of nowhere. At the same time that I was teaching the 7 Habits, I was working for Craig McCaw…the father of the seamless wireless network that we now have…what he could see and what was calling to him was the ability to be free to do your work from anywhere. The Beach, another continent, or your own home. There was a fair amount of opposition to that idea at the time – but Craig could see the freedom it would provide long before there was a pandemic to force it as the primary way to do work – school – or friendship. His renaissance idea spread and now we have form upon form of that idea constantly improving, expanding and providing what is so needed right now.
Contrary to some views, it doesn’t require genius to do the work needed for a renaissance. It is often born out of a period of suppression – think of it as a lot of dark days followed by the sudden burst of light. It simply requires some foundational qualities to put into motion. They are:
Willingness – the potency of intention. Not willpower – which requires all sorts of mental gymnastics – but where there is willingness there is a way. When you vision with willingness – you are often surprised at the vision that appears
Receptivity – the sacred Yes! The open heart and mind allows us to go beyond the surface ideas to the deep, limitless possibilities of your personal life and Life itself.
Sweet Surrender – this is not giving up or giving in …instead it is an expression of Trust – a way of saying “I am available to what wants to emerge through me.”
Freedom of Discipline – discipline is given a bad rap. I can remember hating the word as I was hearing my mother’s voice in my head telling me to practice the piano…that was all about self- control which brings on a fearful response. A disciplined mind listens to the influx of inner guidance and puts it into action. IT takes us out of our comfort zone and as the late theologian and mystic, Howard Thurman says “ give over the vital nerve center of consent.”
The graciousness of gratitude -as I wrote last week – dynamic appreciation is a powerhouse of possibilities. Gratitude opens our inner sight to the fact that we already have been provided all the gifts needed for our vision.
This process of visioning is one I am working with now – clients are responding to the idea of going beyond the constraints of the last year and bringing their gifts and talents to the renaissance of the new – the limitless – the possible. If you are interested in participating in this life altering process, please contact me directly.
Have a great week – Light things up!
