The energy of Inventiveness
A few months ago I wrote about the coming of a Renaissance…that historically that is what follows a period of darkness including the Plague and other pandemic like activities. Some wonderfully curious woman in Italy decided to study that phenomena and it made the New York Times – a beacon calling us forward through this challenging era.
All Renaissance activity includes the power of inventing the new. There is an energy that fuels the ideas and possibilities that are literally infinite and gives birth to something which has not been seen (and sometimes thought of) before. This incubation of transition is what I feel we are in right now. Rather than looking at tired solutions and trying the same things again and again without result; instead we could be looking beyond the present paradigm to entirely new ways of being.
The question arises as to HOW – a question that has always bothered me when faced with something new. There is no How by definition – if we knew how, it would be invented already. A new way to reach synergy – a third alternative to what looks like an “either or an or” of conflict and divisiveness. Though there is no prescribed How there is an environment that allows that inventive energy to flow. My own experience of this has the following breadcrumbs to follow through the forest of new thinking…
Set an intention – it takes intention to move in any direction especially the unknown…it can be as simple as the intent to invent. Apply that to the area that interests you.
Listen deeply – this means listening beyond human ears so to say…listening for the spirit of something – the essence rather than the form..the idea that is waiting to be revealed.
Maintain Hope – this spiritual quality is available to everyone at all times – but is deserving of undistractable attention. Dream and keep dreaming.
Cultivate Joy – again another spiritual quality that is innate but seems to be controlled by circumstances…trust me it isn’t.
My good friend and colleague Julie and I are engaged in a “thinktank” experiment of how to bring this to as many people as we can – it feels like the way out of a very stuck place – individually, collectively and that is right on the cusp of being born.
