Mirror Mirror on the Wall

For over 30 years, I have considered quantum physics as something that reveals more about our life than we know.  It harkens back to the days when I first heard Deepak Chopra say …”Not only is life stranger than you think, it is stranger than you can think.”   The events of the past week have brought me once again to asking the question of “why is this happening”….in a world grown weary from battling disease, why would  we move into battling each other?  Again….

In a more spiritual context, there is that wisdom in, As within…so without…and so once again I am back to looking at that Matrix that reflects the conscious awareness of humanity at this time.  In my own life there is no question of the reflection I often see in events, to the inner dynamics of my awareness and where I am putting my attention.  This is no magical formula brought to you by the new age but rather a deep truth that we can only see what we are projecting. (from our perceptions).  I used to tell the story in classes I taught about when ships began to arrive in the new continent …that native tribes could not see the ships-they had no idea where these humans were coming from…it took a change in their awareness to allow their eyes to recognize sailing ships.  Less you think that is a tad strange, recall the last time you were looking directly at something, but you did not see it.  I call that the- can’t find my keys syndrome …quickly followed by finding out who the mischief maker was that moved them.

I had a helpless feeling for much of the preceding week – when I remembered an important question…”What is mine to do”…asking this question of my unfailing inner wisdom, beyond my troubled thoughts, brought a quick answer.  Be the Peace you want to see in the world…a slight alteration to Gandi’s famous quote. I checked out how much peace I was feeling…how much peace I was sharing (when the furnace went out and repair companies were nowhere in sight)…and I found a lot of space for being the change.

In the quantum world brought about by my hero Albert, there is an understanding on non-locality.  Simply meaning that our thoughts, feelings, beliefs, emotions are not limited to the local space we occupy.  They carry an energy that can be experienced everywhere simultaneously.  Consider the effect of the butterfly’s wings and the hurricane far far away.

I know my science isn’t perfect, but the concept is – if I begin to exude peace beyond circumstances, I am promised that I am bringing change no matter how small…and if more of us could do that with attention and intention- we might see a global and just society on the horizon.

Food for thought,
