On The Wings of Love
Early in the life of this blog, I did many writings on Love. In fact, I did so many a friend found me a decorative pillow with the word LOVE embroidered on its lovely red casing. It has to be one of the words that can most trigger us as well as inspire us…brings us joy and break our hearts. Of course, this all occurs at the definition level…what do we mean when we consider Love in all its forms and all its many interpretations.
For the purposes of this Blog episode, it means two things. The first is that Love is in every form – another friend has repetitive appearances of hummingbirds this season…up to 20 at each of her feeders. Looking at the beauty of a hummingbird and considering its miraculous capability to fly up to 4,000 miles per day – brings a sense of Love to our awareness. Anyone who has a pet or loves animals has only to look at the object of their gaze and feel love well up inside and near the heart. I could list everything from art to music to movies to food and I guarantee you we could find the essence of love in each one of them.
The second meaning for this blog is that Love is who we are…it is our essential nature – the reason we can recognize it in hummingbirds or genius is because we are looking from Love not to Love. What blocks love’s appearance is not that it is absent in any moment – but that we are not seeing with the eyes of Love that we each possess. I wish I had a way to convey the depth of this realization to anyone who is reading this blog – and I know that if you accept that you are made of stars and light and Love you will begin to see what I am referring to – there is NO way to miss it.
Even in the darkest moments if you are paying attention – you will see it. Just ask the spirit of Desmond Tutu if it was present in the reconciliation hearings or Victor Frankl if it was apparent in the worst of times in the camps, or anyone who has suffered loss or disappointment – and if they paused and considered it they would answer in the affirmative.
When we move from Love – life is full – joy is bubbling up – tenderness is everywhere. I have been experimenting with this for a few weeks now and I see it in everything.
We are approaching the 21st anniversary of 911. My husband and I were married two weeks following the Twin Towers collapse. This time of year, brings the joy and Love of our 21st year together as well as the memory and the Love that was exhibited that day- everywhere in the world. This musical selection comes from the artist that stirs my soul – and as I listen and watch – I hear the call for Love no matter what….I hope you do as well!
