The Infinite Intelligence

In a podcast this week, with Deepak Chopra, he said the following: “The intellect cannot correct mistakes of the intellect.”  It resonates with what Einstein said about solving problems.  For me it speaks to the shift necessary to bring in the new – the solutions that have meaning -the turning away from the old and embracing the transformation that humanity is longing to make.

Rather than relying on the intellect to create, we need an intelligence that inspires hope – knows inclusiveness is required-engages neutrality before making decisions, and so much more.  This intelligence is the intelligence of the Heart.  Both Science and Psychology have embraced the idea that there is a field of intelligence accessible to all – that is greater than the mind in power and infinite in its ability to create.  It fosters humane action and brings the qualities that are missing in so many domains of life right now.

When I was a new, aspiring marketing person for IBM, I recall the training we had on customer service…one of the flagship traits of that very large company.  Over and over again, it was emphasized that the customer was more important than selling the product, and their feelings were as important as the business results.  It was an early training on bringing your heart to the transaction – however, no one would have termed it that way then – it would have been considered “too soft”.

Now, we are seeing more and more that heartless business fails…that bottom lines don’t last -that human kindness trumps profit as a central focus.  Part of the good news of the new era is that everyone can utilize this intelligence at any moment.  That training in its access is graceful and produces instantaneous change.

For a moment drop your attention from the head – the busy mind- to the heart -bring warmth to that area through a gentle reminder of something or someone that you appreciate. Hold that tone for a few moments and notice what happens.

Next week, the qualities that heart intelligence easily provides and more on applying them everywhere.
