Creating- From Formless to Form.

Now that we have both Love and Inspiration in place, we can move to the creating process itself.  Remember that this is not a formula – but rather an organic and innate ability that everyone has from within.  It is only when we “try” that we feel the effort, the struggle and often the frustration.  During the three years I have written this blog, I have utilized these so-called steps, every week.

We begin from the formless…I can best describe this as daydreaming.  I am sure you have spent time staring out the window some days and the quiet lull takes you to a place where thoughts don’t have a lot of energy – or perhaps you stare at the fish tank in the dentist office as the fish swim gently around.  Years ago it was surveyed that people had their best ideas in the shower…as they did what was automatic, their minds were free to roam-there was no problem solving or “figuring it out”….just the feel of warm water and the relaxation of the mind. Sometimes this happens listening to music…you are suddenly transported to a space of quiet and stillness while beautiful sounds play in the background.

I can’t emphasize enough that this needs to just happen…its an allowing that is natural and delicious.  You did it as a young child staring at a butterfly or looking at cloud formations -you just dropped into the restful place before action.  If you find yourself trying to daydream, please stop and wait awhile -creating is so natural and we are so used to making it effortful.

An idea, a thought, a possibility will occur to you.  Often the advice is to carry a small notepad with you to capture the moment.  Now we have entered form….and now you can apply some of the intellect to this step- whereas before we were in the intuitive heart – the wisdom we possess- and now we use our simple common sense….”Begin with the end in mind”….what do we see coming into form…what does it feel like or what colors does it possess….the fun shaping of the idea encompasses many actions.  Always be sure to know where you want to end up…if you are starting in San Francisco and want to end up in Detroit – be sure you are heading east.

This step can take some time – keep checking with your wisdom to see if it feels right…the feeling is the thing you pay attention to – keep touching base with both the Love of creating this particular thing and check to see if it still gets your juices going.  Of course, your mind might tell you it isn’t possible or that it will never work out…but remember that is just noise…it has no power.

The power of creating is what we are designed to do – and whatever is uniquely ours, is waiting to take form. Give it a whirl….you will love it…I guarantee it!
