Every Day In Every Way I am-

I have mentioned in other blogs, that my father was my first teacher on the power of thought.  When I was in middle school or junior high as they called it then, he started doing something new.  He would begin every day robustly reciting the following; Every Day in Every Way I am Getting Better and Better and Better.  Later when he returned home from work – more repetitions of the phrase.  He would joyfully respond to every inquiry when people would ask him how he was doing…once again his new mantra.  I am quite sure he had no idea what a mantra was in those days, nor do I know where he heard it or in what way.

My dad always was optimistic by nature…he saw the possibilities easily and no matter what was happening, he would look for the better.  It was many years later that I learned this phrase came from a French pharmacist, and psychologist, Emilie Coue (seen above). He gave every prescription to clients accompanied by phrases such as this and encouraged them to use this approach to healing.  It was used by such luminaries as Norman Vincent Peale, Napolean Hill, Robert Schuller, to name a few; and he is recognized as one of the early teachers of the placebo effect.

Of course, my generation, and the ones to follow, uncovered more and more about affirming positive statements as a way to manifest, dream, create and yes, heal.  Modern approaches to all of those aforementioned things have become nearly commonplace – from Deepak Chopra and Tony Robbins to the scientist who shared how thoughts affect snowflakes and the molecular formation of water. (Dr Masaru Emoto); and some years before that the phenomena of Findhorn blazed that same trail.

We have learned a great deal about energy and vibration and that love and peace vibrate at a higher rate that despair or anger…thank you Dr. David Hawkins.  All of these explorations have come about in the lifetimes following my father’s.  He lived to be 98 years old and didn’t have many ailments to contend with.  He was simply following what felt good to him, science has followed by proving that his simple approach works on a less sophisticated level or in a laboratory.

I am fascinated by the science but I care more about the feeling as well – I find it interesting that now I am coming back to the place I began when I was 12 and my dad started to indirectly teach me his philosophy for living life.

There are a number of things to take from this blog – you could certainly begin using the phrase to bring a feeling of possibilities of constant improvement.  You could study any of the people mentioned in the blog to find out how they applied this wisdom…but more importantly, I want to remind you that the words I AM followed by whatever;  has more power than we are gleaning.  Whether your reference is biblical, scientific or psychological, be mindful using those words.   Have fun playing with the vibration and know the truth…I Am is who you are.
