Go For The Gold-
The Olympics always brings fresh energy and sometimes tears as I watch with awe the results of years of training and hopes displayed from all places and in all colors. The Gymnastics were especially great to see – as the last time we were competing it was a completely different experience.
Not many of us put that much effort into any one thing – to see ourselves on the stage of life going for the gold. Yet there are so many moments when we have the opportunity to go for it and we miss it – from finishing a class or program to completing and planting a garden – each one has its requirements for excellence. Lately I have noticed a lot of tolerance for the mediocre – for the “well that is good enough.” Perhaps after years of hearing we are not and never will be good enough; we have passed into less than what we could be in protection of our own disappointment.
Or perhaps we argue the too old or too late or too hard argument and settle for the less than we are made for-
Some of this I think comes from trying to do something well on our own energy and strength. We could pull from the invisible -the greater energy and infinite intelligence of course called by many names. We could go for the miracle instead of the mundane. But fear, if it has its way with us, stops us cold and we do not go for the gold.
I am in the process of reinventing my life – for a bit now it has seemed daunting and dull- very recently it has taken on a feeling of going for something-inventing something and trying something and somewhere completely new. I am bridging from that fear of the future to creating in each moment -something wonderful and exciting.
I am however – not trying to do it on my own…rather I am trying out the idea of surrender to Trust – that each idea is a possibility not a pipedream and each encounter – a holy instant not a nightmare. I look to the hills from whence cometh that strength and I sing out that I am lifted up above the challenge to the gold medal.
What do you want to dream this week? Go for it.
