Refocus, Reset, Restart

This is a little like ready, set, go! It is also like a great race – a race to a level of awareness that brings more light and compassion to each life no matter the circumstances.

When I was a young professional woman, making my way in San Francisco, I firmly believed in the power of my dreams.  As women began to excel at every level, including supreme court justices, leaders of industry, and political endeavors, I thought the time had finally come for women to take the reins.  I could see the day coming that a woman would be president of the United States.  This week definitively showed me that I might be very wrong about that.

Instead of spending too much time lamenting the situation – I decided instead to refocus my energy.  I have chosen some new ways of being and new trains of thought to employ.  I am going to work more with anything is possible and expand the horizons to include the improbable. There is no time for disappointment, only time to reset.

For me to reset means to let go of any resentment.  To take a deep breath and look at things from the perspective of change and new ideas that can foster and stabilize hope.  To reset means to pause and check my compass to make sure I am heading in the right direction. To find and center on my true north.

Once I have done the first two – I am ready for a restart.  I am ready to go forward with a better vision – to hold space for things to show up that are full of surprise and wonder.  To hold the truth of transformation for the next generation of young, talented and dedicated women.  From Maya Angelou to Ruth Ginsburg, I can learn to be diligent and true to myself, no matter how things look today.

Feel free to use these three powers to change whatever you are thinking today and this week – to something new and something that builds a world that works for all.

Last but hardly least, put on your dancing shoes and join Master Henley and just get over it.
