MIRACLES 1.0

“There are only two ways to live your life. One is as though nothing is a miracle. The other is as though everything is a miracle.” Albert Einstein

For nearly everyone the thought of a miracle gives a hit of energy and inspiration. When we hear an amazing human story, or contemplate Spring, or see a newborn- the idea of miracle is a very welcome experience. For most of my early life, I associated Miracles with phenomena. I had a friend in High School whose great grandparents had tickets for a voyage on the TITANIC. (the one without Leonardo DiCaprio). They were caught in New York traffic which apparently has been a problem for a long time, and missed the launch. Every time my friend spoke of it – her voice became reverent and she said “It was a miracle”.

My personal experiences with phenomena came while I was living in Los Angeles. The personal development era (invented in California I am sure) was getting more traction every day and you simply were not cool if you were not interested in self-help. Someone I worked with invited me to accompany him to a Tony Robbins extravaganza called The Fire Walk. I will spare you the long story of our evening with Tony and cut to the chase…yes yes yes I did the fire walk. Yes yes yes it was really hot (this question has been asked me over the years every time I tell this story) and no no no I did NOT get burned…nor did anyone else who did the fire walk including a dog.
I somehow knew without a lot of self-development that it was a shift in conscious awareness that allowed this experience- things are not what they seem depending on your state of mind at the time.

Over the years, I have studied and practiced understanding this at deeper and deeper levels and have come to truly appreciate and be grateful for the ability to CHANGE MY MIND – and consequently to change my life. The real Miracle is that we can be so sure of ourselves; so sure of what we know; and then shift our consciousness and have something entirely different appear.
From Vedic philosophy to Quantum Physics there is an explanation for this – I am not capable of reproducing it but I can tell you that miracles by this definition, happen to everyone and I am tempted to say = every day. When we are in a low mood (we are in the basement of the orchestra hall) – everything looks grim – our house needs repainting and we need Botox – from a higher mood – we see beauty in ourselves and others and our house suddenly looks charming and quaint. The real miracle here is we can shift that entire experience in seconds – it’s an innate human capability and it’s wonderful. (it’s a miracle).

There are some simple processes to accelerate this ability – and guess what – they will be in next week’s blog MIRACLES 2.0. In the meantime, try this experiment. Think of something or someone you see in a very defined way (can be positive or negative – that doesn’t matter) Check how you feel about what you see- if the feeling includes love, joy or freedom – you are good. It it feels tired, annoying or you are getting cranky…shift your view – raise your level of awareness- get to the balcony of that orchestra hall and check it out. Can you see something different – will you see something different. If yes, then you just created a miracle – in fact you just proved you are a miracle maker!

Have a great week
