“Every Day and in Every Way, I am getting better and better and better.” Emile Coue
(1857-1926)

The above quote was a phrase my Dad used for years when asked
..How are you doing…

Until recently I did not know where it originated.
Emile Coue was a French psychologist and pharmacist who
successfully employed what we now call the placebo effect. Coue
noticed that when he raved to customers about a medicine’s great
effectiveness, they got better. When he said nothing, the medicine’s
effects were less dramatic.

More than the medicine itself, it was the belief in a medicine’s
effectiveness that proved so beneficial. One biography of Coue
claimed a success rate of 93 percent, have cured everything from
kidney problems and memory loss to diabetes, migraines, and even a
prolapsed uterus. The other 7 percent were reportedly too skeptical
to believe that saying the phrase could cure them.

As Coue himself liked to say, “I have never cured anyone in my life.
All I do is show people how they can cure themselves.”
It might have also worked in my dad’s case…he lived to 98 without
much fuss about his health.

We have learned since then that the words themselves are not the
placebo – but the energy that accompanies the words when we say
them. This phrase contains certainty, is ageless in its application,
and for this week’s blog – pertinent to the times we are currently
experiencing.

The great yogis and saints are often depicted with their eyes turning
upwards – ostensibly focusing on the third eye. Paramahansa
Yogananda recommended doing this as well for the fast train to
enlightenment. Mickey Singer says to raise your energetic to move
up and out of the body ( as opposed to down and out) is to
intentionally raise your energy vibration upwards. A few years ago,
Dr. David Hawkins measured emotions by the vibrations registering
when we have or think of them. Obviously love and peace are near
the top vibrational level. The cool thing is we have the innate power
to do this for ourselves and impact others.

Stories abound about the use of the placebo effect in everything from
sports to business. Its also called the self-fulfilling prophecy in the
story of Liza Dolittle to Jose Lima ( an amazing pitcher with the
Houston Astros who talked himself out of fame).

I am not suggesting this phrase as a cure for Covid19 – I am
suggesting that we need to use the placebo effect to assist us in
getting through this period.

I sat with two friends this week who are both positive forces in their
lives and in the lives of my tiny community. Somehow though, the
conversation turned in a downwards direction and the effect was
obvious. Spirits plummeted as did hope.

So for the duration – lets take up the challenge of using our words as
the vibrational messengers they are and bring our vibrational level up
and all those we encounter (ok by phone, skype or zoom works too!!)
Perhaps you will comment on what happens as a result.

For me and my house, we are movin on up! And today is my sister’s
birthday – Happy Day Sis! – Peace my friends,
