The Power of White Light

…………..Some of you have heard this next story and for some it will be a surprise…Before coming to the Tahoe Basin, I lived in Pleasanton and worked in San Ramon.  I managed a software sales group at the time and was driving to work one morning when I received a call from a very dear friend and former colleague in New York City.  He had been to a workshop on manifestation and wanted to share a step in the process.  I was not on any spiritual journey at that time – didn’t dabble much in what I termed the California craze, so let’s just say skeptical doesn’t convey the full nature of my reaction.  He shared that you picture clearly the outcome of your desire in full detail – filling in all the spaces and places so that you can get a “feeling tone” of what you will experience once you have your manifestation.

The disdain he had to hear from me was surely enough to end our friendship – and as I suggested he move to Marin county where he would find likeminded people – we ended our call.  The radio was playing and suddenly the DJ announced that the California Lottery had reached its highest number to date at that time.  A germ of an idea began-  to prove to my friend that not only was he borderline but he had paid good money for a hoax.  As I arrived at my office, I asked if folks would like to buy lotto tickets –(nothing about the Light) and so 3 people put in the $10 for quick picks and one person said he would go in but only for $5…(really?)  I went to the 7 eleven in San Ramon and started imagining the tickets with white light all around them…laughing at myself and checking to see if 7 eleven sold crystal balls.

I locked the tickets in my file cabinet and got on a plane to Atlanta for a short business trip.  I completely forgot about the whole venture until I got home…and then asked my crew of ticket buyers if we won – no one had checked.  The San Ramon newspaper was on my desk and on the front page in a small corner of the left bottom side was a short blurb about one outstanding winning ticket from San Ramon that had still not been claimed.  I had a very eerie feeling in that moment as I unlocked my file cabinet and pulled out the tickets.  I think we must have stared at the number  in the paper and the number on our tickets for a good 5 minutes before we realized we had won.  It was not the giant jackpot but the next level down and for those of us who put in $10 it was a sizeable chunk.  I bought my condo in Pleasanton with the proceeds.

Was it the white light – was it the “feeling tone” I entered – was it the luck of the draw – of course, I will never know for sure.  Some years later when I began my journey to the metaphysical and mystical spiritual – I went to a workshop with Gregg Braden.  For those of you who don’t know who Gregg is, just google him – but he is much closer to Science than spirit.  He told a story of meeting a Native American Shaman in the desert of New Mexico near Gregg’s home.  It was a period of great drought there and the need for rain was critical.  He asked the Shaman if he would pray for rain and the Shaman agreed. They journeyed to a particularly dry spot and the Shaman created a circle, stood in the center for a few moments, and then walked back to Gregg.  When quizzed about what happened so fast and so quietly – the Shaman said “  I didn’t pray for rain, I prayed rain – I felt the raindrops on my face – I felt the mud between my toes, I felt the air of wind and moisture…I prayed rain.”  Later that afternoon there was a thunderstorm of a remarkable magnitude.

From a candle’s glow to a glorious sunrise – from the pink of the Southwestern sunset to the light of stars – they all bring a feeling.  So play with it yourself  but for me – the Power of Light is never again questioned.
