One Power

This is the time of year that brings out ceremony or acrimony….for those who celebrate the sacred – it is of course, Christmas, Hanukah, Kwanza- and the rituals and festivities of each one.  For those who are closer to the Bah Humbug experience, it can bring stress or annoyance at all the hoopla over some tradition or doctrine.  For me these last challenging years (and apparently the year to come,) have brought an opportunity to look at what matters during it all…And I have begun to watch for it in all events…those I like and those I really don’t like.

This week I saw people in Kentucky coming out to help each other – raising funds and delivering food for those displaced by this unexpected event. I watched with joy as Steph Curry broke the record we knew he would break, and the outpouring of New York fans even when it wasn’t their guy and the world pausing to revere his great talent.  Yesterday my neighbor surprised us by plowing our driveway after a big storm and over 1 foot of snow.

What this brings to my attention as we head towards our holiday celebrations, is that there really is only one thing that is important – it isn’t our beliefs or lack thereof, it isn’t our opinions or our political points of view, it isn’t where we live or how we live, it boils down to Love.  Not the syrupy kind or the Hallmark card kind (sorry Hallmark) but the true extension of ourselves beyond all the aforementioned.  To notice in every moment, there is an asking for acceptance and for tolerance and for a kind word.

This is the One Power I am pointing to in the blog title…I am so willing to be Pollyanna on this one-it’s a power greater than a virus, greater than the economy, greater than fierce weather.  It’s a power we already have in large amounts and can share in large amounts..So for this week and for always, open your heart – keep it open and notice the One Power. And thanks to so many who helped me see the One Power more and more in 2021…Char, Coco, Terri, Carlton, Suzi, Jody, Julie, My Bill and more.

Here is some music to help you along (of course skip the ads)
