Living in Transition
This unprecedented time has felt a lot like the above photo…dominoes falling one after the other in a cascading feeling of disorientation and loss. As I have looked closely at my own perceptions of this historic time, I have noticed that I am living in a moment of change and shifting sands that are heading towards a more global and just society. I know, I know, you are groaning – but I believe it is true. In the interim however, there is a gap – and that gap is the transitional movement that we don’t seem to know how to thrive through.
My longtime and dear friend and I are developing a community-based year of study and sharing what it means to thrive in a transition that can look so bleak and intimidating, and at the same time be instrumental in bringing in this new era with gusto and glee. Each month we will gather in zoom to look at aspects of how to thrive and how to inspire thriving while swirling in the ever-changing modus operandi of our current world. There are definitive aspects we have selected that we know are necessary in each of us to be able to see straight and give our unique gifts and abilities. They center on qualities, spiritual in nature- such as compassion and kinship, tenderness and hospitality, wisdom and intuitive guidance and most important of all – to see ourselves as we truly are – beyond personality profiles or family history. There will be videos and readings in between to foster depth and richness.
The artistic process will be part of the structure – beginning with idea and inspiration – following the lead of Michelangelo who saw David in the stone long before the statue appeared that thousands line up to see. This week we celebrate the life and vision of Dr. Martin Luther King- and I found myself watching videos on you tube- I was struck with how he could see something no one else could see and held to that vision for us in our time now – to be able to continue to follow that path.
So vision is necessary as well and by vision I don’t mean a goal..I mean seeing what wants to come forth before there is any evidence that it will.
I am excited to gather a community of people who together can see as well as hold fast to the opportunities that are unfolding as I write this blog. If you are interested in joining us – by all means – please contact me…As we know it takes a whole village.
Have a great week!
