May The Force Be With You

When the first installment of Star Wars was released, I was not interested in seeing it.  I was never a sci-fi enthusiast but after a great deal of nagging from a friend I finally went with him to see it.  Thus began my long love affair with the story, the theme and the meaning.  For years my voicemail greeting had “May the Force Be with You” as my closing.  Of course, my favorite character was Yoda- the least likely but most powerful Jedi.  Who would expect such amazing abilities from a small green alien-looking creature?  I took it as my metaphor that you can’t tell a book by its cover and I reveled in Yoda’s charm and perfect power.

George Lucas and Lucas films were among my favorite talents for many years and since they were in Petaluma, CA I even had the opportunity to have a conference/workshop there and see life size cutouts of my favorites.

Aside from the special effects, which for that day, were incredible – it was the moral of the story that always caught my attention.  I figured George had come upon some truth in his life that now took shape in his movies…that being, that the darker side never wins in the end.  When we utilize the power that is given to us to create and invent a life of happiness and peace we find miracles at every step.

At this time in our history, we all need to become Jedi knights and bring in Yoda to help us use the force and turn away from the darker side.  It is possible in every moment to make a difference in a kinder, gentler world – maybe even one with a lot of cute little green men.

I am up for the challenge – and I invite you to join me.

My dear friend Teri sent me this you tube music on a day when the dark side was having its way – and it flipped the switch.  Thank you, dear friend.  This is a really fun way to bring the force back into your awareness and sing along for fun.  As a further fun fact, Mark Hamil’s (Luke Skywalker himself) sister lived down the street from me at one point and did a lot of wonderful dog training for me over the years.  See what I mean by the force and miracles.  Enjoy!
